Hello everyone,

I am looking for some tips, Myself and a friend are flying into Pisa on Oct 19th, hiring a car and heading straight for Florence for 2 nights. we have one full day in Florence and i have planned some things for us to do and see. After Florence we head to Siena for 4 nights. on the way to Siena we will stop off at Colle Val d'Elsa. And after our 4 nights in Siena we head for Pisa for 1 day and night before we fly home.

Does anyone have any could recomendations / itineries for day trips , wineyards etc while we are based in Siena. I will be taking in San Gimignano and Casole d'Elsa.. but does anyone have any tips or recommendations for another day trip from Siena? Anywhere we should not miss see and do and likewise anywhere we should skip?

Grazie Mille

Bella:)

Itinerary help

Buongiorno,

While in Florence, check out these itins, some are classic and a few are theme based, which could be interesting.

This link will give you a few pointers on what to see in Siena.

While in Siena - you could check out a wine experience at La Lastra and for a few other itinerary ideas:

Reccomandations for a day trip from Siena

Buongiorno Bella,
a possible itinerary for a day trip could be this one: from Siena you could go to Sovicille, a little village in the contry; near it you could visit the Cloister of Torri (it's open every monday and friday morning from 9 to 12), then along the road for San Galgano you could stop and cross by foot the ancient Ponte della Pia. The Abbey of San Galgano is a very special church without roof, where in the nearby chapel you can see the "sword in the rock" (the ticket for the Abbey includes the visit of the Museo Civico e Diocesano d'Arte sacra in Chiusdino, a typical village near San Galgano).
On the way back, you could visit Radicondoli, another pretty little village.
Have a nice holiday!
