base town between Cecina and Siena

I booked Hotel relais palazzo del capitano for 3 nights to see most towns in the San Quirico d'Orcia region. I need a suggestion for another location ...i realize you cant see all of tuscany in one trip and will return.... with that being said. we plan to see florence ,lucca and cinque terre ...leaving riomaggiore taking train to Cecina to pick up rental car. I would like to find a base somewhere for two nights to see Voltera, Siena and chianti region. before heading down to San Quirico d'Orcia before taking train from Chiusi to rome. any suggestions??? thanks

Choosing a base

Buongiorno,

I would definitely looking into making your base in the San Gimignano area. It is just the right distance between Cecina and Chianti.

Not only is it beautiful in this area but it would give you equal driving time to the places on your list.
