What a great resource..thank you!
My husband and I will have 2 nights and 1 full day in Tuscany in early October. We plan to arrive by train from Florence and have a hotel reserved in San Gimignano and plan to relax there on arrival day. The following day is our one full day and trying to decide how to best use that day to see/experience/taste the region. We will not have a car so will need to use trains (or busses? not sure how easy/difficult that is?) to see a few excellent, highly recommended spots (we don't plan to go to Pisa this trip). I read that Montepulciano is wonderful but best I can tell it's 2 hours by train and that just seems like a lot of train time for just one day with needing to get back to San Gimignano. I would love a recommendation of 2-3 stops we can do by train in one day that also gives us wandering time in each spot.
