Booking a Car for Umbria and Back

Hello Lourdes, thanks for all the wonderful tips you have shared. I will be arriving in Florence on 1st August at about 2pm and we will drive to Casabiance for 2 nights, and then to Umbria and back to Chianti, and finally Florence. If I pick up the car at the airport, would i be driving through the tourist zone or bypass straight into the highway? Where do you advise I should drop off the car when I return to Florence, and decide to walk/train the final two days? Thanks Lourdes

Ciao Raj, glad you're finding the info useful!!

If you're renting at the airport, you are super far from the ZTL/restricted traffic area. The A11 and A1 highways are close to the airport, so you can head that way to drive out of Florence straight away without worries about driving into the center of Florence. If your GPS instead suggest you drive through Florence, try to change the settings so that you don't do that!

I'd recommend you return the car to the airport as well - it costs less to return to the same location, plus if you're leaving visiting Florence to the end of your vacation, from the airport rental companies, you can head to the closest tram station and take the tram downtown to then spend the last two days in Florence.
