Sorry I can't offer personal recommendations as I haven't gone to either Forte dei Marmi or Viareggio to stay for the night. We've stayed in the area and visited for the day. You're right, there is a lot of options that it makes it hard to decide... so hope someone else can chime in and offer some personal recs.
