Hi! Will be in Florence for 3 days and intend to use public transport.
Can we buy a card that can get us on any public transport?
What is it called?
Can we buy it at the airport?
Would a single such card serve 2 traveller?

Ciao Enemdee,

No, there isn't a pass for public transport that would give you unlimited travel during your 3 days in Florence.

Depending on where you are staying in Florence, it might actually mean that you don't even need it - because the majority of buses do not even go through the historical center and near the main sights. There are only 4 bus lines of small buses that cross the center - the C1, C2, C3 and C4.
Page 4 on this link has the schedules for all of them - https://www.at-bus.it/it/linee-e-orari/firenze
BUT the easiest thing will be to download the AT Bus App and use that while here, both to know where the bus stops are near you, the timetables and to BUY tickets!

There are 2 tram lines, The one you might use is the one that connects the airport to the center, to Santa Maria Novella train station.
You can buy tickets for the tram lines at all the stops, there are machines that will sell tickets. You generally have to get on the tram and on the back of the ticket still have the ticket machine print out date and time on it, this is the way to "validate" any paper tickets you might have.
If you buy tickets on the app, you still have to indicate you want to "use" it by validating it before you get on the tram or bus.

The easiest way right now, even easier than the app, is to use a credit card or debit card or smart device where you have a card saved on and just tap it on the device at the bus/tram entrance. It should turn green and say OK to indicate you have a ticket on that card. If you're checked for a ticket, you need to give the controller your card so it can verify that you have an active ticket.
Last week I used it on 3 separate buses and it worked fine until the last bus, where the machine said it was offline and could not be used. If you encounter that, you should turn around and get off the bus, buy a paper ticket or digital ticket on the app and then get back on.

If you think buses are needed during your time, the app should be your default - but otherwise, plan to walk a lot, the center is quite small and most of the attractions are really close to each other, there won't be an option for buses around those.
