no can do. There isn't even one public transport system which is totally connected - every province has its own system and many times they DO NOT overlap. There are just a few places where a private bus system has stepped in and covers long distance hauls.
So...no...no metro. Florence is putting in a tram-via, but it is only within the city borders.
