Tuscany and Florence

Hi all.

I have always wanted to visit Florence, but lately I am being drawn to an 'extended' stay near Florence. I would like to stay somewhere within an hours train journey (I like trains), of Florence as I don't want to hire a car. I would like somewhere near a nice town, that has access to a train to Florence, and has a pool (maybe a Spa) and lovely food (local flavoure-some food, not posh) for quiet relaxing days. No children and I love animals.

Can anyone help with advice on location and accommodation ?
