Hi,

I'll be in Florence next week and would like to ask whether I can rent a pocket wifi during my stay.
Which provider is good? Can I book it beforehand through any website? Can I pick up at the airport or their shops in downtown? Thanks!

Pocket WiFi

Buongiorno,

to be honest the only experience I have had with a pocket Wifi was when a friend came to visit last September and the hotel provided one with their accommodations - so first step would be to check with your hotel/B&B etc to see if they have or can acquire that for your.

Looking online it appears that most of the phone providers (Telecom, Vodafon, Tim, 3, etc.) have pocket options but most contracts seem to be for a long term option.

I did find: http://prestowifi.com/mobile-wifi-italy/
and they have options for shorter periods of time.

In Florence for example there are several WiFi hotspots (here is a link that gives a list of addresses: http://opendata.comune.fi.it/open_c...opendata.comune.fi.it/od/wifi.csv&titolo=Wifi) and many of the bars offer hotspots. However, I know that doesn't help if you are in the middle of Chianti and want to find the closest restaurant. ;-)

Buon Viaggio,

Donna Denise

Hi!

I used in my life two routers - from Skyroam and from Polish WiFi. They both did very well, so any local companies with possibility of renting MiFi imho will be good, if is similar to Polish company :)

Hey! As far as I'm concerned Polish WiFi works now in all European countries... I used it once, when it was only polish ;) and what was different from all big companies it has VERY KIND and UNDERSTANDING call center, no problem with using the device (clear instructions). Easy to rent. I recommend it!

I prefer to use a national MiFi provider which can assure the best connection and assistance.
last June, I rented in Florence a MiFi from WiTourist, they also have a point near S.Maria Novella Station.
However I preferred to book the service online, before my departing...to get it in my hotel at my arrival.
The service worked grandly and their assistance was perfect.
