We are a family of 4 adults who will be visiting Tuscany from 22-25 May 2023. We will be arriving from Rome on 22-May-2023 morning and shall leave on 25-May-2023 morning. We are interested in the following destinations in Tuscany:
1. Florence City Highlights
3. Val D'Orcia
I wanted help in scheduling an itinerary for the above
That is not a lot of time to explore everything on your list, other than a passing through. You can take the train to Florence from Rome on the 22nd, and use Florence as your base for the rest of your stay.
Day 1 (May 22) - Arrive in Florence late morning, spend the rest of the day exploring town. See the main sights: Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria (Palazzo Vecchio), Duomo (climb the tower or dome).
Day 2 (May 23) - From Florence, you can take the train to Pisa to explore the main sights for half a day (climb the tower!! it is an amazing experience), then return to Florence and explore the rest of the city: visit the Accademia, go to Piazzale Michelangelo for the view at sunset.
Day 3 (May 24) - Join a planned tour that takes you to Chianti, San Gimignano and Siena
- that way you can spend the entire day exploring.
We did this tour: https://www.discovertuscany.com/tuscany-tours/tuscany-one-day-tour-siena-san-gimignano-chianti.html
and highly recommend it. No need to worry about driving or knowing where to go. You get to see the landscapes, get some wine tasting in and visit San Gimignano and Siena!
Not knowing when you need to depart Rome, either return to Rome that night if you have early morning departure from Rome... or see whether you can depart to Rome on May 25 and go directly to airport.
How does all this sound?
