Markets in Florence

Hello, we will be in the Florence area for about a week and would like to visit local markets. Are Florence Markets open every day or just during the weekend? Where can we find gold and leather at good prices in Florence or the vicinity. Thanks for your help.

Going shopping in Florence .... one of my favorite past times :-D !

You can read about some markets here which includes information on the renovation that was recently done on the San Lorenzo Food market.

Another classic place to check out for food is Sant'Ambrogio open Mon - Sat from 7 till 2PM, it is a classic and a very local haunt for fresh fruit, veggies, cheese, meat and more.

And the third weekend of every month there is a wonderful antique fair at Fortezza di Basso, definitely worth a stroll around.

As for leather shopping, one of my favorite places to suggest is Pierotucci because they offer real Italian leather products and they will let you tour their workshop where you can meet the artisans.
