Organ concerts in Florence

Hi everyone! I'm going to visit Florence this October and trying to find out where I could listen to an organ concert.
There's the information that Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci used to provide free organ concerts every night at 9.15 pm but it looks like to be outdated and some people say there's nothing arranged at the moment. Another post mentioned Church Santa Margherita and Basilica di San Marco but there's too little information about it. Maybe someone could help me with this search?

Ciao Jeanne,

Could you share your dates in October, maybe I can make a more specific search for your dates.

As far as the Church Santa Margherita, it is the same church as Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci - they did use to do concerts every evening, but I think it was only in the summer. I haven't been past it recently, but I don't recall seeing the poster still hanging on their front anymore. I will have to go by and check it out.

In the meantime, this is what I did find:

- https://portalegiovani.comune.fi.it/urlnews/webzine/48920.html - this mentions a program from summer until November, but unfortunately nothing planned in October.

- https://www.toscanaclassica.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/FLYER-AUTUNNO-2023.pdf this shows several orchestra concerts going on this fall, all free. Several dates in October, and while not organ, they could still be interesting to attend.

- https://www.classictic.com/it/ - this website offers concerts and operas, depending on your dates.

- https://fabbricaeuropa.net/en/fabbrica-europa-2024/ Fabbrica Europa continues through October 15, take a look, nothing with organ music but there are a lot of other offerings on there.

O Flos Calende - between February and April, the cathedral does host musical concerts that often have the organ at the center of the evening. Unfortunately, not in this season.

I'll keep an eye out to if I see anything else I can share!

Hi Lourdes,

thank you so much! I do appreciate your help!

We'll be in Florence for a couple of days since October 27. If you'll have a chance to go by Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci before these dates, I would really be grateful for the update if they still do organ concerts. Alternatively we'll definetely use your suggestions above. 🌹

Ciao Jeanne,
I went by the Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Ricci on via del Corso this morning, it was closed, but the info on the front doesn't speak of organ music anymore. I think it's because the church is now managed by the Sant' Egidio community, I don't remember that being the case before.

I suggest when you arrive in a few days that you stop by the Tourism Info office either across the SMN train station or the one on Via Cavour and ask them for info on organ music. They might have a list of churches that also might do services/concerts with their organs on specific days of the week. I have been unable to find any info online but they are the main central point for this type of info and events so might be able to give you more info.
