Please suggest vineyards to tour in Chianti

We will be based in Radda for 3 days next week and hope to visit some vineyards. are there any you recomend on a moderate budget? Also is there a car driving route you recomend from San Gimignano to Pisa? any advice? Many thanks for all the valuable information you are posting.

Radda is an excellent base! It is hard to recommend vineyards for wine tastings/wineries because each one has their own offerings. Some are simple tastings that could be 5 euros for 3 wines, others offer free tastings, others offer tour+tastings and others with restaurants also add lunch or dinner into their offerings.

All in all, if you want to visit local wineries around Radda, the best resource is to go to the tourism office in Radda. When we were there on a Sunday, they knew exactly which ones were open in the area and what they offered. Most of the estates outside of Radda produce wine, but some are much better organized for visits and others are not. You'll also see signs are you drive by on the roads.

As for the drive from San Gimignano to Pisa, definitely take the inner roads that take you up to Pontedera. Feel free to follow signs in the general direction and take other roads along the way - eventually I am sure you'll enjoy the ride more regardless :)
