TRANSACTION DENIED When trying to pay Citation for Restricted Lane

On November 2024 I received a traffic citation in the mail from Firenze Police for 68,25 € . Although I do not remember the infraction (driving in a lane reserved for another vehicle category), I am in no position to contest the citation as I'm back in the USA.
I am willing to pay the fine using my credit card on the website, however the transactions are being denied on the website. I have tried a number of times and even called my credit card company. They tell me because it is an international transaction it requires an additional security check via phone text. I opened a REQUEST SUPPORT TICKET on the site, but got no reply.

Now, May 2025 I have received a second notice from the Firenze Polizia Municipale, this time for 176,15 €.
Who can I call to resolve this issue?
Why are they increasing the fine?

OK, I believe I got the issue resolved. I found a phone number on the Firenze Police website.
For communications: +39 055 0353400 Email: firenze@myfines.it
I called and they spoke good English and were very helpful. They said international payments must be made by Bank Wire transfer from my local US bank (+$55) .
They emailed instructions for how to do the wire transfer and where to send it. They also allowed me to pay the original fine of 68,25 €.
Lesson learned; stay out of the Bus Lane!

I am glad you got this resolved! But it makes no sense that with modern technology they cannot accept payments online, if not direct with credit card, through a 3rd party vendor such as PayPal.

I do believe if you can go on the link they send in the citation, you can see a photograph of the vehicle that passed in the restricted lane. At least that way you can check it looks like your car rental. This is the website: https://poliziamunicipale.comune.fi.it/come_fare/immagini_violazioni.html I know it's only in Italian to make it more difficult for you but it should be either the first or second link, depending on the case number you have on the citation.

I'm sorry you've had this experience, it is unfortunately difficult to drive in Florence, even for us residents! I often, and when I can, choose to walk or ride my bike places to avoid driving in the city - parking is also a nightmare, tbh.
